Restoration and redevelopment effort made possible via partnership with City of Upper Arlington and local investors

WORTHINGTON, OHIO, August 5, 2019 – COhatch, a social enterprise offering a new kind of shared work, social, and family space built on community, is opening its fifth unique space; this time in the heart of Upper Arlington at The Shops at Lane Avenue, 1733 West Lane Ave. Enabling towns and people to grow and improve together, COhatch now has locations in key neighborhoods across Central Ohio, including Worthington, Dublin, Easton, Polaris, and Delaware and announced recently that it was doubling its size through expansion in Indianapolis.

Dubbed ‘The Overlook’, the latest and largest COhatch location represents a complete restoration and renovation of a former idle space that lay dormant for more than 50 years as well as a build out of the former Swan Cleaners’ site. After an 18-month revamp, the building has been transformed into a modern environment that is built to inspire innovation, collaboration and community. As with all its locations, the goal of COhatch is to breathe new life into an idle community asset while retaining the local charm and beauty of the area.

The new 10,800 square foot space features a two-story design, the first for the social enterprise company, that includes a game area, numerous conference and co-working spaces and the Look Out room that’s available to the general public for offsite meetings and social events. Last year, COhatch struck a deal with city officials and local investors from Upper Arlington to build out the shared space as a way to revitalize the local area and provide a local option for work and life events.

“There are very few places where people can meet and do events in UA,” said Matt Davis, CEO and co-founder of COhatch. “We want our spaces to be well known centers of gravity for communities and our space in UA is the perfect complement. We’ve already had a huge outpouring of support here.”

For its part, COhatch committed to a significant investment in building renovations and a 10-year lease. The city is providing job creation grants and tax incentives.

“Our concept to build a 2.0 version of the community town hall is integral to what Upper Arlington represents,” added Davis. “We are building a place for like-minded people to connect, work and socialize to get the most out of their talent and to live an integrated lifestyle.”

COhatch at The Shops on Lane Avenue will house 30 private offices, 5 dedicated desks and generous coworking space. It offers meeting and conference rooms that are available to community members. Members and their families also can use the facility as part of the COhatch social membership program, making it easy for them to work, socialize and serve in the towns they love.

On August 24, COhatch will celebrate the grand opening of this location from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at its Aloha Upper Arlington community event that includes a hog roast picnic, Hula dancers and tours of its newest location. It is free to attend with drink tickets available for purchase. To sign up, click here.

COhatch offers a standard set of business amenities (Wi-Fi, desk, fax/mail services) along with event hosting, guest reception, meeting spaces, makers spaces, maker markets, educational workshops, lounges and common space that vary by location. Members can access all of COhatch resources and space at any of its locations.

COhatch plans to open more than 12 total locations in Central Ohio along with a number of licensed units in the Midwest within the next five years, including 10 in Indianapolis.
