Continuing restoration of old buildings and uplifting of additional small businesses

TAMPA, FLORIDA, January 27, 2021 – COhatch, a rapidly growing, community-focused company which develops innovative shared work and social spaces, has announced its plans for a fourth location in the Tampa Bay area at 121 East Tarpon Avenue in Tarpon Springs.

The historic Tarpon Avenue site, which is centrally located near the city’s Sponge Docks, joins the list of COhatch sites under construction in St. Petersburg, West Tampa and Lakeland.

“We wanted to find a site in Tarpon Springs because of its rich history and charm,” said Brian Sanders, COhatch’s Tampa Bay Market Leader. “One of the things we do best is restoring old buildings, so the town’s historic downtown is perfect for us. We’re excited to see our vision for the space come to life over the next several months.”

In addition to restoring historic buildings, COhatch is also known for uplifting local businesses. Recently, COhatch announced it’s working with West Tampa’s beloved Bar-B-Que King to renovate their space, breathing new life into the restaurant, which has been a neighborhood staple for nearly 60 years. The company plans to continue to support Tampa Bay businesses with this site as well.

The Tarpon Springs location will house a new concept from one of the Bay Area’s most innovative restaurateurs, which will be announced in the coming months.

COhatch’s dedication to supporting local businesses doesn’t stop there – it’s also focused on building a thriving nonprofit and startup ecosystem in its communities. Through its Impact Programs, it gives these organizations and entrepreneurs a place to work, hold meetings, meet with investors and host events free of charge. Tarpon Springs-area startups and nonprofits will be able to apply for Impact Scholarships once the space is open later this year.

“We’re really excited to keep expanding in Florida,” said Matt Davis, COhatch co-founder and CEO. “Since announcing our big leap to the Tampa Bay area, we’ve found so many impact-driven communities. With our mission to strengthen communities, improve lives and equip people to be greater, it’s been inspiring to see just how many neighborhoods are ready to innovate and create with us.”

Like the company’s other locations in the area, the building will include private offices, coworking areas, meeting rooms, and event space for members and the community alike.

“Since hybrid work has become popular in the last couple years, our members in other cities have been utilizing COhatch more and more as a ‘hub and spoke’ model,” said Brian Sanders, COhatch’s Tampa Bay Market Leader. “This type of work model is designed to give companies a main ‘hub’ while giving its employees the opportunity to cowork out of any of our locations, right down the street from their home. With the addition of Tarpon Springs, and more locations coming in the future, we’re adding more options and flexibility to that model.”

The four Tampa sites bring COhatch’s total number of locations open or under development to 30, with a total square footage of more than 386,000. The company aims to have 500 locations in 50 communities across the U.S. by 2032, with as many as 15 in the greater Tampa area.

Construction on COhatch Tarpon Springs is set to begin in Spring 2022 with a grand opening slated for later in the year.  For updates on Tampa construction, early access and where COhatch is headed next, sign up for their newsletter.
