Printing at COhatch

Our goal is to make printing as easy as possible for our members, but it’s important to follow these steps to ensure you’re setup successfully to print. We do charge for printing at COhatch, so we ask that you spend a few minutes walking through this guide to ensure you’re not being charged for prints incorrectly.

Printing Pricing will be changing starting June 8, 2025 to the following:

  • $0.25/page in black & white
  • $0.50/page in color
  • Copying is now free!

Have you printed with COhatch prior to May 1st, 2025? If so, before you get started setting up our updated printing system, you’ll need to remove Papercut from your devices (laptop/desktop and smartphones). Here’s how to remove Papercut:

Follow the steps below to uninstall PaperCut Hive from your Windows/PC:

  1. Open File Explorer or press the Windows Key on your keyboard
  2. Navigate down on the left-hand sides task bar to This PC and double click to open
  3. Once open double click on the Local C Disc
  4. Scroll down and double click on the file Program Files
  5. Scroll down and double click on the file PaperCut Hive
  6. Click on the application unins000 to initiate the uninstaller
  7. Follow the uninstaller wizard prompts to remove PaperCut Hive

There is a second part to this removal following the final steps below:

  1. Press Windows Key + S and type Add or Remove Programs, then press Enter
    • This will open up your installed applications
  2. In the search bar at the top type in PaperCut
    • This will bring up the following applications that we’ll uninstall
      • PaperCut Hive Print Client
      • Ghost Trap (1.6.10.04)
  3. On the far right-hand side of each application select the three dots and click on Uninstall
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to fully uninstall both of the software applications

After a few seconds, the PaperCut Hive client will be fully removed

Follow the steps below to uninstall PaperCut Hive from your Mac:

  1. Open the blue face Finder located at the bottom of your dock

  2. On the left-hand side find and click on Applications to open it

  3. Scroll down to find the blue folder labeled PaperCut Hive

  4. Double Click on the PaperCut Hive folder to open it

  5. Once opened click on the grey hexagon icon labeled Uninstall to select it

    • Once selected double click the hexagon to initiate the uninstallation of PaperCut

  6. A Terminal window will open asking:
    âž” “Would you like to uninstall PaperCut Hive? [yes or no]”

  7. Type yes and press Enter

  8. If macOS prompts you, enter your administrator password–note that when you type in your password into Mac terminal it will appear as if you haven’t typed anything–and hit Enter

After a few seconds, the PaperCut Hive client will be fully removed

📱 How to Uninstall PaperCut from an iPhone:

  • Open the Settings app
  • Tap General → iPhone Storage
  • Scroll down and find PaperCut Hive in the list of apps
  • Tap it, then tap Delete App
  • Confirm Deletion.

📱 How to Uninstall PaperCut from an Android:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Go to Apps or Apps & notifications (varies by device).
  • Tap See all apps if needed
  • Scroll down and tap on PaperCut Hive
  • Tap Uninstall
  • Confirm when prompted

getting started with pharos at cohatch

1. Start with downloading the Pharos driver to your laptop or desktop.

To download the Pharos driver to your Windows laptop or desktop follow the steps below:

  • Download this package to your laptop or desktop.
  • Double Click on the WindowsPrintScout.pkg file to launch the installer.​
  • If prompted by User Account Control, click Yes to allow the installer to make changes

Follow Installation Prompts

    • Click Next on the welcome screen.
    • Accept the license agreement.
    • Choose the installation location (or leave it at the default)
    • Click Install to begin the installation.​
    • Once the installation finishes, click Finish

To download the Pharos driver to your Mac laptop or desktop follow the steps below:

  • Download this package to your laptop or desktop.

  • Double Click on the MacPrintScout.pkg file to launch the installer.​

Follow Installation Prompts

  • Proceed through the installation wizard:
    • Click Continue on the introduction screen
    • Review and accept the software license agreement
    • Select the destination drive for installation
    • Click Install to begin the installation process
      • You may be prompted to enter your Mac’s administrator username and password to authorize the installation​
    • Once the installation is complete, click Close to exit the installer.

2. Register Your Email For Pharos Secure Release:

  1. Launch the Pharos Print Desktop App to open the Pharos Print Setup Guide
    • On Windows, search for Pharos Print desktop app on the Start Menu. Selecting the app adds an icon in the task notification area (i.e. system tray area) located at the right end of your screen.
    • On macOS, press ⌘-Space to open Spotlight then search for Pharos Print desktop app.
  1. Once the Pharos Print Setup Guide is open enter your email address to register and then click Verify.
  2. Pharos will now send an email with instructions to the email that was provided.
  3. Check your email for that email and then follow the instructions provided to complete your email verification.
    • Click the Confirm Email Address link within the email. A web browser will then open showing a message that the page will open the Setup Guide to verify the provided email address. When the Setup Guide opens, log in to continue.
      • Note: The link and the verification code are valid for one hour only.
  4. After your email address is successfully verified, a Set PIN dialog will appear. Enter a 4-digit PIN code. You will use this PIN code with your registered email address to release your documents from the printer.

3. Activate A Release Method

For smartphone users: Download Pharos Secure Release App through the App Store or Google Play Store.

  • Once you’ve downloaded the Pharos Secure Release App click on the small printer icon now located at the top right-hand corner for a Mac or the bottom right corner for a Windows PC
  • A drop down menu will appear and you’ll want to select Register A Mobile Device
  • Open back up the Pharos Secure Release App 
    • Rather than typing in your email click on I have a QR Code 
    • Scan the QR Code on your computer screen

Now Your All Set Up With Pharos Secure Mobile Release which allows you to:

  • Submit print jobs from any device
  • Walk up to any printer and Scan the QR Code to release your print jobs securely

For non-smartphone users:

Once you’ve installed the Pharos Device Scout and have Registered Your Email, the next step is to configure Pharos Direct Print Release. This feature allows you to print directly to a printer, but still requires authentication before the document is released to ensure secure printing.

Here’s how to finish setting up Pharos Direct Print Release:

  1. Click on the Pharos Print Printer Icon
    • located in the top right-hand corner for a Mac user
    • located in the bottom right-hand corner tool bar for a Windows/PC user
  2. A drop down menu will appear and you’ll select Select Show Main Window (it can take a few seconds for this to open)
  3. Once open click on Direct Print
  4. Click on the +Add to add a printer
  5. You’ll select your COhatch Market (examples: Florida, Columbus, Cincinnati, etc)
  6. Select the drop down arrow next to your market to select your desired printers location (examples: West Tampa, Dublin, Mason)
  7. Click on your locations printer and hit Add

Ensuring a successful print job

Pharos Printing works across most devices and browsers, but it’s important to keep in mind that every device and browser is slightly different. In order to successfully print files, please see a few modifications below to ensure you’re printing exactly what you want.

  • Google Chrome Color Printing: If you’re wanting a color document printed instead of selecting Command+P (⌘+P) in the chrome browser, you’ll hit the keys Option+Command+P or (⌥+⌘+P) or navigate to the system Print Dialog to print a color document.
