Local craft alcohol producer to share in running of COhatch “The Pub” at Polaris

COLUMBUS and WORTHINGTON, OHIO, August 22 – Brothers Drake, producer of locally sourced meads, (honey-based wines), is teaming up with COhatch to run its new Pub location at Polaris. Set to open the winter of 2018/2019, Brothers Drake will operate the local craft bar and entertainment venue by night, while COhatch runs the co-working, private office, and meeting space by day.

The Polaris location will be the second for Brothers Drake in Ohio joining its Short North site.

Brothers Drake also plans to produce its specialty brew of meads on site at Polaris, giving customers a view into how its product is micro-brewed, while highlighting its local sourcing practices. It will offer tours, experiential tastings and knowledge sharing, which is aligned with COhatch’s vision of offering shared experiences for members. The venue will feature some live music similar to its Short North location.

“We share in the vision of COhatch and its plan to scale its community-based concept across Central Ohio and then the Midwest,” said Oron Benary, owner and general manager of Brothers Drake. “How cool is this new model where patrons of COhatch can work locally in an office environment by day and by evening, relax and enjoy our honey-based concoctions at a location such as Polaris. We are beyond excited to bring a new authentic local feel to the area and be a part of COhatch’s growth plans.”

The Pub will be open to the public to rent for events, such as holiday parties, weddings, birthday parties, and fundraisers. As part of the COhatch model that leverages the sharing economy, Brothers Drake will open its facilities to other alcohol producers and invite the public in to meet the owners of local brands, learn about alcohol production, and sample great local product.

COhatch, which has plans to subsequently expand and integrate its concept within Polaris, will bring Brothers Drake into the fold. This will further enable COhatch’s shared-space mall expansion similar to what it has done with The Madery — Makers and Market space it operates in Worthington.

“Brothers Drake is an amazing and authentic local brand that was born out of the Short North,” said Matt Davis, founder of COhatch. “They really exemplify what we are trying to accomplish by finding the best local makers to join our community so that together we can all thrive and create the lifestyle our employees, customers, and members desire. The Pub is a unique work and meeting space that is also a lifestyle amenity for our members. There is nothing we can’t achieve if we learn to share again and build a like-minded community that supports one another and values a work/life balance.”

COhatch The Pub initially will offer 7,000 square feet of private offices, dedicated desks, game areas, co- working spaces, meeting rooms, large conference rooms, indoor outdoor event spaces, and a full liquor license and bar. It also includes a standard set of business amenities (Wi-Fi, desk, fax/mail services) and numerous exclusive member perks, including a fitness center membership and access to a Florida beach home.

COhatch currently has two locations in Worthington, Ohio, and three others under construction. The Delaware location “The Newsstand” will open this Fall and the Upper Arlington location “The Overlook” and Polaris “The Pub” will open this Winter. Members can access all COhatch resources and space at any of its locations. COhatch plans to open more than a dozen total locations in Central Ohio within the next five years.
