hygge and COhatch Give $100,000 in scholarships to local nonprofits & startups

hygge and COhatch, community spaces meant for work and life, are giving away $100K in scholarships to local organizations to connect more of the Charlotte community.

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA, AUGUST 1, 2024 – hygge, a coworking, meeting and event space that brings people together in Charlotte, and COhatch, a community-driven company which develops innovative shared work and social spaces, are bringing $100,000 in scholarship opportunities to local nonprofits and startups who want to use their space to connect with others and grow their ideas.

Dave Anderson, COhatch’s Head of Impact, says, “It’s been a little over a year since we brought hygge into our ecosystem here at COhatch. We’re now ready to start fully integrating our community spaces and brands, which means bringing COhatch impact scholarships over to hygge. At COhatch, we were founded on the principle of social enterprise and creating positive impact across our neighborhoods, so we knew we wanted to bring more ways to allow our hygge members to connect with local nonprofits and startups who need community spaces to drive their missions forward.”

These scholarships include coworking memberships for selected nonprofits and startups, allowing them to utilize hygge’s workspace in Charlotte, as well as the COhatch locations around the country in cities like Columbus, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and more. Each scholarship enables local organizations to connect with others in their community, fundraise, and get use out of the member perks that are provided through hygge and COhatch.

Each scholar is awarded a year-long coworking membership allowing them to work day to day at hygge and the opportunity to participate in networking & pitch events, workshops, and more. Scholars will be able to utilize meeting rooms, indoor and outdoor event spaces, and coworking areas to meet with their teams, host board meetings, and connect with other local organizations.

Eboni Huggins, who is leading Impact Scholarships at hygge in Charlotte, speaks to the impact these scholarships will provide and hygge’s relationship with COhatch over the last year. “As someone who has been in the coworking and community industry for years, I know how important it is for local businesses, startups, and nonprofits to be in a space that fosters connection, collaboration, and growth. I’ve seen so many entrepreneurs and nonprofits come together in our space to make a difference locally in Charlotte and beyond. Having these scholarships available to make our spaces even more accessible for those who are just starting out or don’t have the budget for it gives us a great opportunity to make more dreams and ideas flourish in our city. We are excited that COhatch has enabled us to be able to do this as we’ve been wanting to do something similar for years and it’s finally becoming a reality.”

In addition to access at any physical location, each scholarship gives selected nonprofits and startups access to a digital community portal that connects all hygge and COhatch locations and members far and wide. The digital community platform allows members to connect with one another, list their businesses, receive member perks and more.

Local organizations, like KIPP North Carolina, are already excited about being a part of this program. Mai Li Munoz with KIPP NC has already become a scholar at hygge and they are excited about the opportunity to utilize the spaces. “We at KIPP North Carolina are excited and grateful to be hygge’s inaugural COhatch Give Scholar! As a statewide public charter school district with schools located on the east side of Charlotte, it is important that our remote teams continue to have a physical presence in the community in order to create new and strengthen familiar partnerships for the benefit of our students and families.

We knew that applying for COhatch’s Impact scholarship with hygge was the right decision because of the companies’ focus on building togetherness – something the world could use a lot more of right now – through spaces that inspire creativity and collaboration. A million thanks to hygge and COhatch for this opportunity!

To jumpstart this program, hygge is looking for 20 nonprofits, 10 local startups (in business 3 years or less), and 5 Community Partners to be a part of their scholarship program in Charlotte. If your business or nonprofit is interested in applying for scholarship access to hygge locations across the city, applications are now open for at https://bit.ly/charlotte-impact-scholarships.
