COhatch opens up scholarship program for startups and nonprofits to gain access to the new coworking, meeting, and event space coming to Duluth

DULUTH, GEORGIA, March 6, 2024 – COhatch, a community-driven company which develops innovative shared work and social spaces, is finishing up their 11,000 sq. foot renovation at 3905 Duluth Highway in Duluth. What was previously a tool rental, sales, and service store will now be shared coworking space, private offices, meeting rooms, and event space.

As they look to open their doors over the next month, COhatch is also opening up their scholarship program to allow local nonprofits and startups to apply for free or discounted access to the space to help them drive their mission forward. The COhatch Impact Scholarship Program includes coworking memberships for selected nonprofits and startups, allowing them to utilize COhatch’s workspace in Duluth, as well as the COhatch locations around the country. Each scholarship enables local organizations to make a larger impact in Duluth without having to worry about overhead costs of workspace. Each scholar is awarded a year-long coworking membership allowing them to work day to day at COhatch and the opportunity to participate in COhatch networking & pitch events, workshops, and more. Scholars will be able to utilize meeting rooms, indoor and outdoor event spaces, and coworking areas to meet with their teams, host board meetings, and connect with other local organizations.

Paulika Ran, the Senior Community Manager at COhatch Duluth, speaks to the impact these scholarships provide, “Coming into Duluth, we knew how important meaningful impact and connection is to the community. We’ve always been focused on making a positive impact on the people in our cities and we’ve been able to see just how impactful our scholarship program is over the last eight years. With over $2.3 million in scholarships already utilized by nonprofits and startups in our other communities, we’ve been able to help over 600 organizations grow and push their missions forward by providing them access to our resources, workspace, and members. We plan to continue that in Duluth by bringing in impactful, mission-driven startups and nonprofits into our space that want to see the community thrive.”

In addition to access at any physical location, each scholarship gives selected nonprofits and startups access to the COhatch digital community portal that connects all COhatch locations and members far and wide. The digital community platform allows members to connect with one another, list their businesses, receive member perks and more.

“We believe that physical, in-person connection is the most important, but we also have a need and interest from our members who want to connect and grow their businesses or fundraise for their cause across city and state lines,” said Ran. “Our digital community platform creates space for introductions and networking wherever we go, especially here in Duluth as we look to build a new community and partnerships.”

Local organizations, like Rainbow Village, are already excited about being a part of this program. Michelle Alcorn with Rainbow Village stopped by COhatch Duluth for a hard hat tour as the details are being finalized. Alcorn said, “We are very excited about this partnership with COhatch. Not only will it provide us space to host events and meetings, but it will also allow us the opportunity to engage with the rest of the COhatch community. We always say ‘it takes a village’ and this partnership will help expand our village!”

COhatch is looking for 20 nonprofits, 10 local startups (in business 3 years or less), and 5 Community Partners to be a part of their scholarship program in Duluth before doors open.
