CLEVELAND, OHIO, June 24, 2021 – COhatch, the Columbus, Ohio-based company with a new approach to shared work, social, and family space, today is celebrating the official opening of its newest location at 2814 Detroit Ave. in Ohio City’s Hingetown District.

Today’s grand opening celebration from 4 – 7 p.m. will include a non-profit showcase, where community members can learn about some of the local organizations COhatch Ohio City is supporting through its GIVE Scholarship program. Via the program, COhatch provides scholarships in each market annually to 501c3 organizations supporting social and economic issues as well as to local minority- and women-owned start-ups. Organizations participating in today’s showcase include:

  • The Presidents’ Council an engine for Black business growth that supports, develops and advocates for the region’s current and future generations of African American entrepreneurs and leaders
  • Make Them Know Your Name, a heart health foundation established to take action to positively impact the heart disease epidemic and to help prevent heart-related fatalities
  • Engage! Cleveland, a community engagement organization for young professionals and community leaders who are passionate about making Cleveland a lasting home for the next generation by attracting, engaging and retaining young, diverse talent to Greater Cleveland
  • Passages, an organization working to inspire and empower families to thrive by promoting parenthood enrichment and workforce development training, holistic case management, and access to resources that support a healthy and resilient family life
  • The Purple Project, an organization dedicated to assisting current and former foster youth with maintaining stability and successfully transitioning out of the foster care system.

“We understand the importance of renewal and sustainable growth in this area,” said Matt Davis, co-founder and CEO of COhatch. “At COhatch, we are committed to re-envisioning and redeveloping viable real estate to promote community connectivity, and this Ohio City rebuild is perfectly aligned to our mission to strengthen communities and improve lives.”

COhatch Ohio City is opening in the former Bounce nightclub location in Hingetown. It is conveniently located near a number of apartment complexes, including The Quarter, Church + State, Mariner’s Watch and Clinton West Luxury Apartments. The facility also is within walking distance to the West Side Market, Edgewater Beach and the historic homes in the Ohio City neighborhood.

“Ohio City is a growing neighborhood with over 800 new units of housing and $300 million of investment taking place along Detroit Avenue alone. The addition of CoHatch will only add to the sense of vibrancy in the neighborhood,” said Tom McNair, executive director of Ohio City Incorporated. “More importantly, we appreciate their interest to not just move into the neighborhood, but to be a part of the neighborhood and find ways to maximize their impact with programs like their GIVE scholarship program.”

The newest COhatch location is 15,000 sq. ft. and includes 38 private offices, 5 meeting rooms, a podcast room and event space in addition to its coworking seats. COhatch ‘s food and beverage partner, North High Brewing, will occupy 5,000 sq. ft. of the space, with generous outdoor seating options.

The Lookout event space will be available for community use after hours and on weekends. The space includes seating for more than 60 people and features garage door access to North High Brewing. It can be used for personal or company events.

Columbus, Ohio-based law firm Bricker & Eckler is one company with a Cleveland-based workforce that is taking advantage of COhatch coworking space to help better serve clients and enable employees to balance work and life. The team will utilize five offices at the COhatch Ohio City location and another seven at the COhatch Beachwood location when it opens this Fall.

“This collaboration with COhatch is a remarkable opportunity for us to bring all the best of what we have to offer to both our employees and our clients,” said Matt Warnock, Partner in Charge of Bricker’s Cleveland office. “We’ve found that our clients are open to exploring this type of arrangement with us, because they’ve identified similar needs for flexibility and accessibility. Essentially, we’re expanding our reach while reducing our overhead, and that’s a healthy approach for all of us.”

Like Bricker & Eckler’s employees, members of COhatch Ohio City will be welcome to use workspace at both the Hingetown location and COhatch Beachwood when it opens this Fall. They also will have access to the company’s Springfield, Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio, and Tampa, Florida, locations.

COhatch worked in partnership with the Tim Lai and Associates architectural team, Snavely Building Company general contracting team and Equity Program Management on the project.
