Lifestyle coworking social enterprise begins to fill in greater Cincinnati footprint to offer more locations and amenities to members
WORTHINGTON, OHIO, December 10, 2020 – Further expanding its footprint, COhatch will build a third Cincinnati space in Milford at the site of a former distillery, another step toward achieving its 10-site expansion plans in southwestern Ohio. Originally built in 1834 and subsequently rebuilt when fire struck a decade later, this downtown historical landmark is being renovated and restored in a way that honors the building’s diverse heritage.
The new space, located at 220 Mill Street, will help meet the growing demand from local residents for community, collaboration and private office space close to home with convenient access to the area’s Little Miami Scenic Bike Trail, ValleyView Nature Preserve and the Little Miami River. The 8,800 square foot building is expected to open in the summer of 2021. The space also will support multiple outdoor activities including fishing, biking and outdoor games for team building and family activities.
COhatch supports entrepreneurs, startups, nonprofits and larger companies looking for satellite offices close to home. Members will be able to take advantage of Old Milford, an area known for its charm and warmth, where they can browse for antiques, dine at one of the many local restaurants or grab a beer at the Little Miami Brewing Company. Members will also be able to frequent the many unique shops located there and find anything from bicycles to jewelry.
“Milford perfectly embodies the COhatch brand with its strong sense of community and walkable downtown area,” said Matt Davis, co-founder and CEO of COhatch. “Not only is the town ideal, we also are restoring a historical landmark that fits in beautifully with our goal to re-energize and repurpose spaces that are no longer used but offer incredible opportunity to build a modern 2.0 community hall. This environment is well suited to helping members incubate new ideas and to make new business connections.”
“As the world of work continues to change and evolve, we are offering new workstyle concepts to businesses who are embracing a post-pandemic environment, where workplace and team flexibility are highly valued and companies are looking to reduce fixed costs without losing innovation or their core culture,” said Megan Dotzauer, COhatch market leader for Cincinnati.
COhatch ‘The Mill’, which is a nod to the building’s use for a time as a flour mill, will feature 23 private offices with additional coworking spaces combined with three meeting rooms, a special community space for private events and a second story-overlook deck for outdoor seating and collaboration. It includes a standard set of business amenities (Wi-Fi, desk, fax, mail, print services).
The meeting and event spaces will be available to the community as well as COhatch members and are suitable for hosting off-site company meetings and celebratory life events.
COhatch Milford marks the third location in the greater Cincinnati area joining its Deerfield Towne Center site in Mason and soon-to-open Hyde Park location, bringing its total locations open or under development to 14 and more than 220,000 square feet in the Midwest. This represents a 20-fold increase of COhatch’s footprint since its inception in 2016.
Already actively involved with the local nonprofit community, COhatch offers the GIVE Scholarship program which provides scholarships each year to 50 501c3 organizations in each market to organizations aligned with COhatch’s philanthropic goals of helping nonprofits that support anti-human trafficking/domestic violence, people experiencing homelessness, and children and adults with developmental disabilities among others. Non-profits can apply to become GIVE scholars from November 1 through January 1 to take advantage of in-kind community memberships that provide nonprofits with access to space and meeting rooms and all the amenities of a COhatch membership.
Members gain access to all COhatch resources and space at any of its locations throughout the Midwest including GIVE Scholarships, a Florida beach house, the “Mobi” community trailer, health and wellness coaching and special member events.
